Ten Thursday Links

Thursday, April 14, 2016
This week was a busy one.. Hence the lack of posts in the last two weeks. I went up to the admitted students day at the college I will most likely be attending next year (yay!), and I have been bombarded with tests and homework, that I just have not had any time!
Anyways, now that all of that is in the clear, I thought I would get back to sharing some interesting articles (and recipes, etc.) with all of you!

ONE // To The Class of 2016: This Is Just The Beginning
I thought this was both eye-opening and saddening. Although I have read a lot of letters from current college students to high school seniors, this one was different. Most of these letters warn high school students not to forget how easy we have it in high school, this one hit me on another level. I guess a lot of that has to do with the fact that I read it on the drive back from my college admitted students day. However, it is a good read and really helped me see just how different things will be next year, with both stuff I already knew, and things I did not think about.

TWO // Jennifer Anniston Answers the goop Q&A
I thought that this was a really fun read. I recently began to watch 'Friends' (I am totally hooked, I highly recommend it), and Rachel [played by Jennifer Anniston] is my favorite character. Although I am late to the game with watching 'Friends', I have always admired Jennifer in both movies and T.V. shows I've seen her on previously. I think that this is a pretty entertaining read if you are looking to know a little more about the woman behind Rachel Green.

THREE // Ikea Hack // DIY Pom Pom Blanket
I love pom pom blankets. They are so simple yet adorable, and can really add to a room (without being too 'out there'). However, I never ended up buying one, because I would have nowhere to put it, and I have not seen one that was not on pinterest... However, I found myself bookmarking this simple DIY, teaching readers how to make one of these blankets at home! You should really check it out if you think it is something you might want (just like myself).

FOUR // Reasons To Be Thankful For Your Roommate
I know, a lot of my posts lately have been college based. I just cannot get it off my mind! It is the next huge milestone of my life, quickly approaching as the days fly by. I thought this article was really sweet and interesting because it gives me something to look forward to. Growing up, I have had my own room, but grown tremendously close with my hall mates - my sisters. I could only hope (and I am sure all of you are/did as well) that my roommate is going to be one of my best friends. I think that living together really is truly a bonding experience. Well, I also think that it is really easy to let your guard down in front of the person that sees your bed-head, puffy eyed, make-up free self on a daily basis!

FIVE // 11 Successful Women Recall Their Early Career Mistakes
It is always interesting to read articles like these. All of these women are obviously successful (hence, the name of the article), but still made mistakes early on. There are many ways to take articles like these - whether it be that it is ok to mess up, things you should avoid doing, etc. When I first read this, I remember taking mental notes on what not to do when starting out. But, I recalled it one day randomly, and realized that it can also be taken positively. Instead of being a list of 'do's and don't's' in your career, you can also see it to be a settling, nearly uplifting, thing to read. These women are human, and despite their success, they have made mistakes like the rest of us!

SIX // Guilt Free "Ice Cream"
This a recipe that looks like ice-cream, but it is more like 'nice'-cream. I am yet to try it, but I am going to this weekend! Either way, what can ever go wrong with ice-cream that is not bad for you!

SEVEN // Nathan Kress Wedding Video
I remember when it was first announced that Freddie from iCarly was getting married. I stalked his instagram for about an hour, so intrigued by the idea that he is already getting married. It feels like just yesterday I was watching him on iCarly with my friends, pigging out on popcorn and ice-cream. It is actually such a pretty video, their wedding seemed beautiful!

EIGHT // Moderate Yosemite Valley Day Hikes
It has been on my bucket list for a while now to hike up Yosemite. Now, that dream may come true in two weeks! From what I have seen, it is so beautiful, and I can only imagine it is prettier in person. I am super excited to finally climb it, but nervous at the same time.. I am going to be doing it alone, and I am not a good hiker. Well, we will see. In the meantime, enjoy some beautiful photos of it!

NINE // The Classic San Francisco Guide
As mentioned right above, I am going to California in a few days. I am beyond excited, but now that I am trying to plan things to do, I am lost! I am so excited to venture out and explore San Francisco on my own, but also afraid. I am mostly afraid because I am a 17 year old, who works part-time and goes to school full-time, so I don't really know how much shopping I will be able to get done.. Nevertheless, this full guide to San Francisco will definitely help :).

TEN // The Smoothies To Drink When Trying To Lose Weight
Recently I have gotten very interested in the weight loss smoothies. They are definitely a whole lot easier than the juices, because I have a Ninja blender, but no juicer (if you can put two and two together, haha). However, they are a great source of nutrients, protein, vitamins, you name it, in the morning. Many people I know swear by smoothies. It is something that I want to try more often, and these smoothie recipes seem the easiest (with common ingredients) than most others I have looked at!
