The Three Stages of Traveling Alone For The First Time

Tuesday, April 26, 2016
Although I do a lot of traveling, this was my first vacation where I got on the plane and made my way over here on my own. I thought that it would be a lot more overwhelming than it ended up being. That could, of course, be because I am very used to airports - so either with or without anyone, I am at the stage where I am comfortable, and definitely travel alone again!

There were definitely three different stages that I went through when getting prepared to leave, when I was leaving, and after I left. Therefore, I thought I would share them with you guys - especially as a heads up as for those of you who have not traveled alone yet!
STAGE ONE // Getting to the airport and frantically scrambling to make sure everything goes smoothly
When I first got to the airport, I was scrambling to make sure that aI had everything. Every five seconds I was looking through my purse to double (or triple) check that I had my passport and boarding pass. I do not understand why I felt the need to constantly do this, but I was so afraid that I would drop something or not realize that it was in my bag after all. But, I did have everything, every time I checked my purse.

STAGE TWO // Going through security and realizing it really was not as bad as I was expecting
By the time I was done checking in and making sure my bags made it safely en route to the plane, I was relieved. I had finally made it through the part that seemed the most confusing when I was younger, it was nearly like a milestone. I remember always being so lost and following my parents every move because I was so confused throughout the whole journey in the airport. Therefore, by the time I got to security, I knew the hard part that I was afraid of was over with.

STAGE THREE // Landing.. A huge relief that you made it through in one piece
When I landed, it finally concluded the whole 'struggle' of getting to California. Although it was far from a struggle and everything about getting around the airport and on the plane etc, landing really meant that it was over and I made it.
