Prom

For as long as I can remember, I have been looking forward to getting ready for prom. Honestly, going dress shopping and figuring out how I was going to style my hair etc. excited me more than the dance itself.
My dress is a lot different than I imagined it would be. Ever since freshman year, I have dreamt of getting an A-line golden or red dress with delicate beading on the top. However, my dress is very much the opposite of that.

It was one of the first that I tried on and I loved the beading and the light pink color. But, like mentioned many times, it is very different than what I thought I would want, or even like, but I still think it is beautiful :)!
When I went to go get my makeup done at MAC, I showed my makeup artist my dress and told her I wanted to keep my makeup pretty simple and nothing too dramatic. Normally, I do not wear much makeup, just mascara on most days, so I did not know what to expect with much more.
The makeup honestly was not very simple, but I ended up loving it. I think that the most dramatic part of it was my eyeliner, but I thought that it was actually really cool looking. It was definitely really fun to see myself with the perfect makeup I envy on instagram.

I was having a really hard time trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my hair. I was looking for a simple half-up half-down with some volume and room to incorporate my headband. But, I ended up at this. I was not sure how I felt about it at first, but once I got my makeup done and put my dress on, I loved it and thought that it really worked well with the dress.
I had a pinterest board (you can find it here!) going for at least two months dedicated purely to different half-up half-down ideas for prom. However on the day of prom, I came across a picture on tumblr of this style, and I decided to go with it, and I loved it! Like I said, it did not turn out exact, but I thought that this worked a lot better than I even realized at first.

Also, the back of the dress was scalloped. This was one of my favorite things about it actually. Although it is a minor detail on the dress, I love just about everything that is scalloped, so this was a deciding factor on getting this dress as opposed to another one I was looking at.
Of course, I would have to get a picture with Maggie. Just as expected, she had her tongue hanging out of her mouth - the only time she isn't doing this when she is sleeping..
Me: Dress: Mac Duggal (it is no longer sold, this is a similar one) // Earrings: Etsy (great deal and amazing earrings!) // Headband: From a boutique in Berkely (similar)
Gabe: Tux: Rented from Men's Warehouse // Tie: Vineyard Vines // Pocket Square: Vineyard Vines
xoxo,
